When I was a kid reading wasn't a big part of my life. Children's books were slow and unadventurous. Even in high school it was an essential, I never read for the enjoyment of reading.
It wasn't until I went to uni and needed to fill in my travel time that discovered books. Dropping me in the middle of the heart stopping love that is Edward and Bella (yes I am one of them). It was one of the most popular love story of generation.
I enjoy getting lost on far away adventures, my heart racing and my eye filling with tears. While I lost track of time, missing my train stop, forgetting to eat and going to bed late.
Then when I become a mum in 2012, kids picture books were slow. I found myself searching though books in bookstores to find ones that where interesting would hold my children attention. I found my own kids also enjoy the thrilling, heart stopping hold your breath while I turn this page....books.
I took inspiration from my own pet ferret, as he did escape his house the way I have depicted in my story. I imaged how and what he would do with his freedom. His story followed out on the paper, with the beautiful watercolour illustrations. I feel every child will enjoy reading and having this read to them.
I'm looking forward the next Flurry story that is bubbling away, waiting to burst out on the page.
